Il Servizio dei Gesuiti per i Rifugiati (JRS) è un’organizzazione internazionale cattolica che opera in oltre 50 Paesi, la cui missione è accompagnare, servire e difendere i diritti di rifugiati e sfollati. Fondata dalla Compagnia di Gesù (Gesuiti) nel 1980, il JRS è una rete mondiale di associati e istituzioni di questo ordine religioso cattolico. Il JRS assiste i rifugiati attraverso misure di sostegno materiale e spirituale, a seconda delle loro necessità e indipendentemente dal loro credo religioso.
Chi può lavorare per il JRS?
Il JRS cerca volontari e collaboratori che condividano la sua visione di accompagnamento dei rifugiati e che siano preparati per i suoi complessi compiti. I volontari e i collaboratori del JRS possono essere laici, gesuiti, oppure membri di una congregazione religiosa. Il JRS cerca persone qualificate nei campi dell’educazione, del counselling, della riabilitazione, del management e delle attività connesse, specialmente con esperienza come formatori. C’è anche bisogno di persone con competenze tecniche, specialmente nella comunicazione, nell’area giuridica, nell’agricoltura e nel lavoro di progetti di micro-sviluppo.
Che qualità richiede il JRS?
Oltre, ovviamente, a desiderio di servire i rifugiati e i richiedenti asilo, maturità, notevole flessibilità caratteriale e capacità di comprendere i rifugiati e le situazioni in cui si trovano senza perdere obiettività, sono essenziali queste cinque qualità:
- impegno a formare altri,
- capacità di lavorare in team e di vivere in comunità,
- accettazione di uno stile di vita semplice,
- disponibilità a condividere un percorso di fede,
- precise competenze professionali da mettere in campo.

This is a position based in Kakuma Refugee Camp. In close collaboration with the Program Coordinator, the Special Needs Education Facilitator will be actively involved in planning, monitoring, implementation and evaluation of the JRS Mental Health Programme.
The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international non-governmental organisation (INGO) with a mission to accompany, serve, and advocate for the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people. The organisation was founded in November 1980, and currently has ten regional offices and a presence in over 45 countries. JRS undertakes services at local, national and regional levels with the support and guidance of an international office (IO) in Rome. The style of JRS service is human and spiritual, working in situations of greatest need, seeking the long-term well-being of refugees and displaced people, while not neglecting their immediate or urgent needs.
The main services provided are in the field of education, emergency assistance, and psychosocial support and livelihood activities. Currently, more than 724,000 individuals are direct beneficiaries of JRS projects.
The JRS International Office in Rome is the head office of the Jesuit Refugee Service. It leads the organisational strategy and provides support and guidance in the areas of programmes, finance, advocacy, communications, fundraising and human resources to 10 regional offices in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe. In addition, JRS International Office coordinates and works closely with JRS USA Office, which also engages in fundraising and donor relations.
Revenues: US $51.49 million of which US $12.46 million was from private sources in 2015.
The Grant Writer will report to the JRS Director of Fundraising and Development (F&D) and will be an integral member of the Fundraising and Development Department which leads the organization’s global efforts in the acquisition of financial resources through competitive solicitations, from existing and prospective major donors, private trusts, donor-advised funds, foundations, corporations, religious congregations and individual donors. The Grant Writer serves as the lead writer on a number of strategic prime bids and will contribute to other proposals, as necessary. Additionally, s/he will take the lead on drafting and/or updating various Fundraising and Development documents and reports.
|Regional Human Resources Officer - Eastern Africa Region|

The organisation was founded in November 1980 and has a presence in over 50 countries. JRS undertakes services at national and regional levels with the support and guidance of an international office in Rome. The style of JRS service is human and spiritual, working in situations of greatest need, seeking the long-term wellbeing of refugees and displaced persons, while not neglecting their immediate or urgent needs. JRS offers opportunities to a wide variety of staff, local and international, while maintaining a realistic and localised scheme of salary/stipend, insurance, etc.
The Regional Human Resources Officer (RHRO), under the supervision of the Regional Director (RD) and in close collaboration with the International Human Resources Director, will ensure consistency and uniformity in the implementation of human resources policies and guidelines, by sharing best practices and ultimately by promoting the welfare of JRS staff in the Regional Office as well as in the 5 countries where JRS has operations. The RHRO will also lead the recruitment for JRS staff in the Region in collaboration with the Country HR Officers. With this aim, the RHRO will actively contribute to the development and implementation of Human Resources policies; reinforce HR processes, and offer guidance and HR services to employees in both the Regional Office and the Country Offices. The Eastern Africa Regional Office (EAR) supports 5 countries, namely Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Sudan and Ethiopia. In each of these countries, JRS hosts programs for refugees and asylum seekers.
